They could always change the names of the parties , the government of the day could be called the Sleaze Party & the opposition the Not quite so Sleazy. Then it is all change when there is a change of government.

    hi john sabourn #211
good evening, Good advice from your old man, what id like to know is how do you differentiate between them, Another problem is whilst the big head is seeing sense, the little head will always get you into trouble no matter how much advice you have been given or who gave it to you,
as i have stated here in the past i did bring a grass monkey home with me from west africa, trouble was he was always playing with himself, ( it was like a little valve in a innertube off a bike ) and he was for ever trying to get into the cat, thinking back on it now, he might have not only given the cat a shock but he might have given it monkey pox. as we never did see him after a few weeks with the monkey on his back all the time, As for introductions i think if it was cappy doing the introducing then i would think you where in safe hands, as he had the all clear on that monkey pox problem he had years ago.

Thomas Michael. Marian recently made a suggestion that all seamen and ex seamen should add their discharge book number to posts to keep imposters off site. My number is R786940 what is yours?
Where you deck, engine or catering?
What was the name of ship and company when you brought home a grass monkey from West Africa?

Graham, bagging polis is an Oz tradition, we all do it.

I fully understand your sentiment on the subject, and I still have relis in the UK and are concerned for their well being.
The PM of UK is an important position in world politics, but like many others I fell well informed to make comment.
We were in UK during the voting to remove the no hopers from the list, and yes mate it is important to all in UK, but as I say it is also of importance to many across the globe.
My main concern is that Labor may win the next one, then I maybe will not want to visit UK while they are in.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

221, i think like yourself Lou that Marians idea of discharge book numbers is a good idea, would certainly let us know who is who. Of course it would not prevent anyone who has not been to sea from joining the forums, as everyone has something to add to the site.

yea agree on that keith .....but i do think some of these oddbods who keep returning time after time and seem to only state posts that are out to start discord .....ie constant attacks on other members should be dumped from the site ......in fact i still feel very aggrieved from a statement a while ago that ....a kick in the nuts often would solve a problem .....i only initially smiled and wondered who would pull his head out of his ass after his bold statement.... but for the sake of good order did not reply .....funny how one sad soul can cause such discord .....it would have been sorted on any ship i was on.....cappy and proud of DIS number R683532

    ah louis #221
good morning, if i have misgendered you by not using your prefered title of Ms marple, then we are not getting off to a good start. But i digress as obviously you are not too happy with life in general.as you always seem to be moaning about something.
so what is it this time, oh yes the monkey, well louis or miss marple if you do your research you find i have wrote about charlie, ( thats what i called him ) in previous missives, i bought him in pepple in freetown off a bum boat, and then locked him in my cabin and went ashore, where i was offered the services of the bar owners wife, seeing that she was six months gone with a hump and a face like a camel i declined, but i did take up his offer of his two young jungle bunnies, anyway the next morning found me running through the village after the two jungle bunnies as they had stole my levi jacket, after retrieving it i went back to the ship and as i entered the cabin i was physically attacked by charlie whom proceeded to rip my face up, i finally took him out on the poop deck lashed a line around him in a harnes like and threw him over the **** end, needless to say he was good as gold after his little swim. and i had him for nearly three years.
now thats something you can go back and find. as your so interested in my monkey. and which will also give you the ship and the company.
Now i came to this site some years ago looking for a photograph of a ship that i was trying to find, and to delve into the sites photographs you have to fill in the details requested, so i did in full i answerd all the required questions and i was admitted, after a while i found the photograph i was looking for and it is now the wallpaper on this computer , i have never ever given anybody on this site the impression that i am anything but a seaman, in fact in one of your inquisitive missives i told you that i have more salt under my finger nails than you have sea time, and that still stands, because i am still sailing my boat after owning it for twenty eight years this year, combine that with the nearly seven years commercial sailing then i truely have indeed more salt under my fingernails than you have sea time, and apart from when i was peggy and was asked to help in the galley after the second cook from barry went crazy and had to be locked in his cabin, i have worked the deck, but why is it so important to you, The suggestion that to allay fears of imposters coming onto the site that you now think i should give you all my discharge book number, when the sites rules states that anybody can join this site you dont have to be in the merchant navy, trouble is miss marple you would be known as a ships lawyer and ive sailed with my fair share of those,
    tom

Strange thom but when i got my monkey in bangladesh for a couple of packets of fags .....it had a wire round its neck that had cut deep and the monk was in considerable pain and snapping at all and sundry .....an old hand stated it will have ago at you but you must master it .....on taking it into my cabin ...i held it down while getting the wire off it raw neck .....it stood in the corner baring its teeth at me ....then launched its attack ....i stepped aside and as it flew through the air i lamped it ......it went in the corner and started to whitter like a baby .....i then picked it up and no further attacks from him .....in factit was like having a good mate who relied on me ......the captains wife would come to my cabin to see jacko ....but on sunday inspection the old man always turned to the mate or chief steward and stated i can smell monkey here mr mate and gave me a hard look ...cappy R 683532
