#65 Good old Enoch
Anyway in talking of Polticians from a different era. Dear old Ted Heath, no need for Ted to join the Merchant Navy although he was a sailor. He played with many an organ. No need for Ted to join the Cabaret oh no not Ted. He preferred to crack the Whip before joining the Cabinet as PM . I only mention him because really he is to blame for all this European tish, nothing to do with the denials that surrounded him about being gay. Last Tory PM with balls was Mrs T.

An amusing Hello Sailor-ish post James -and to think it's winged it all the way from the 'dodgy' United Arab Emirates !
But I tell you what is not amusing to the LGBT Q+ fraternity/sorority,is- David Beckham's decision ,in the forthcoming World Cup,to be the official 'face' of Qatar,in that homophobic and sexist country.
Previously ,Mr.Beckham, who incidentally is still a bit miffed about not yet getting a knighthood ( it is because you assume you are entitled to,and keep on asking for one,David lovey!)-has previously been proud to be known as a gay icon. Still,I suppose a $150 million deal handshake offered by Qatar trumps all that doesn't it ,David?

Re: The Bid for Leadership Race....
Any one who advertises HAIG whisky and played football for Man Utd does not deserve a Knighthood. Manchester City & Newcastle Utd blood money bought them This week Sepp Blatter & Michel Platini aquitted of bribery and coruption by a Swiss court

Why all the interest in were I live ???
Anyway to put the thread back on track . Is Rishi Sunak friends with Leo Varadkar

Re: The Bid for Leadership Race....
It was always obvious there was no strong candidate to succeed Boris, that's why they should have left him there.

"Anyway to put the thread back on track . Is Rishi Sunak friends with Leo Varadkar?"
That would not surprise me at all.
Anyway,as I said in an earlier post--the leadership race is all going to ,what I call an orchestrated plan' hatched at least a month ago to oust Boris Johnson and ensure Fishi Soon Tax becomes the new PM. Down to 8 candidates (from 11)as at close of play today.
Savage Damage has gone,he (allegedly) not getting th 20 requisite backing votes required to go forward to the next stage, thus leaving the lightweights including two very light lightweights, whom not many voters know about,Tom Tugendhat and Kemi Badenoch. The way is open for billionaire Fishi to be the next leader and therefore the next PM of HM Government. Another very wealthy son of emigrants made good for himself.......
It was Another raucous Wednesday on PM's Question Time in the Commons today,in what is probably Boris's last. Two MP's were banned and ejected from the Chamber for disrespecting the Speaker,Lindsay Hoyle.
One particular jab at the on/off/on Tory leader hopeful Nadim Zahawi was made by Shadow Leader Beer Korma.I normally don't find him funny but this was so funny.Nadim's constituency is Stratford upon Avon,so Beer Korma referred to him as the gentleman from Stratford and Gibraltar !-obviously referring to the tax haven goings on that Nadim Zahawi may be (allegedly) slightly embroiled in....

#66 What were you doing searching Enoch Powell Fouro. ? Were you in the Customs Service ? As Ted Heaths name was mentioned by Graham , he was another M.B.E. gained I gather from his service as a captain in the Royal Artillery and firing bullets and other things that the searchlights pointed out to him. To be on the safe side though I would of thought it advisable to have others in the room during any body search with him, on the other hand at a later date one infamous PM was caught selling decorations to aliens to raise party funds so I believe , he was later decorated with the highest Civil Honour for free. So being shifty he must have had the goods on other shifty ones. Going back to Enoch though most of what he had to say came to pass. Cheers JS

Nothing special John, he was treated like. any other passenger passing through Terminal 2. All he had on him was a briefcase which he had to open up for me to inspect what was inside it. If he had had more heavy luggage that would have put through the XRay machines. Anyway I gave him a thorough body search and said OK sir that's it. He never spoke a word but he nodded and gave me a smile before going into the passenger lounge to board his plane. You see, Terminal 2 was for European airlines travelling to Europe We never body searched the crews of these airlines, which was most unlike Terminal 1 during the bad times in Northern Ireland where British Airways planes departed for Belfast. These flights were top security where everyone including the pilot who was flying the plane had to be body searched. I was complimented on two occasions by two pilots. I remember one saying, if you search everyone boarding this plane as you have searched me, then I have nothing to worry about.
Fouro.

Re: The Bid for Leadership Race....
74 Think it was about 1980 when on a diving support vessel , at the offshore oil and gas exposition in Southhampton , and we were one of the exhibits. Got the job of standing at the head of the gangway and asking all the ladies to open their handbags and had to look inside , made me feel like a peeping Tom. Mind I was surprised at the personal contents of some made me feel embarrassed , I’m Not narrow minded neither were some of them apparently. I was speaking to a customs officer years ago about a lady who had an abundance of French letters in her luggage , thinking she may have been a swallower of drugs she was detained for the usual body checks.Turned out she just liked male company and was going on holiday well prepared .
