Re: UK's Largest Cruise Ship.
Many years ago i was shown round the QE2 while in the Fire Service, she had armed guards on her then, i think that was after the SAS were flown and parachuted into the Atlantic, because of a bomb scare. i dont know how long afterwards that was continued, KT

Re: UK's Largest Cruise Ship.
Hi Cappy
They have had Ghurkha Security on QE2 when I first sailed on her in 1995.and all the times every year until she was sold off in 2008. QM2 is the same, and also with HAL .
Some Cruise ship Companies do have Ghurkhas on board for Security. Every person boarding is checked just like an Air port, Everyone has a Card with all details and photo on, this is checked on a computer and then walk through the metal detector, any baggage or shopping bags go on a conveyor through the XRAY Machine.
Going ashore everyone is checked going off and checked again when coming back.
They do have an armoury, in case of attack,
Another Security item I saw on QE2 and on QM2 was a large circular disk about three feet in diameter. Operated by a Ghurkha and if any boat approaches within 500 metres they are called on the loud speakers to clear off. If they do not they are blasted with a beam of Sound that will completely destroy their hearing and send them into total confusion.
.
. I have not been on a Ferry, but I have told Cameron several times to have the Royal Marines/ Ghurkhas on board searching vehicles before the ship sails and dump ashore any stowaways.
The scenario was a couple of them have Suicide Vests on Hi Jack the Ferry mid Channel and then blow it up killing a thousand passengers.
I have told them FOUR TIMES, no response.
Brian

Re: UK's Largest Cruise Ship.
Scenario, drive a lorry load of explosives on to the isle of wight ferry, book the return journey, no checks made on vehicles or occupants, just tickets. On the return jouney take over the bridge (only about 6 crew anyway), drive the ferry straight into portsmouth dockyard, major naval port, go longside a naval ship, and press the button, all feasable kt

Re: UK's Largest Cruise Ship.
Cappy it is not so bad. On one cruise we had 8 die and four put ashore with serious medical conditions. Bu it as only a 10 day cruise so could have been a lot worse.
