We just got back after three excellent days in Liverpool, staying in the RMS TITANIC HOTEL, and a very interesting hotel that is. Ex White Star and PSNC Offices. The Staff were very good and cheerful.
We watched the QM2 come alongside, I had a chat with one of the Mates at the Gate, interesting.
We walked around the Crowded Pier head from the bow of QM2,. a Magnificent vessel, not one of the cruise ships But a Liner. I have sailed on her twice, Maiden Voyage and a six weeker round South America from Florida down the East Coast , round Cape Horn and up the West Coast to San Francisco,
I have also sailed to Sydney on Queen Elizabeth, The Captain of Queen Mary 2 is Chris Wells, EX Shell, I have sailed with him previously on QM2 and QE.
I was in the Maritime Museum and bumped into Brian Daley, from the Midlands, ex Liverpool lad. with a lovely Chinese Lady who is doing his life story.

Sunday night the Music and Lights on the Three Graces was fantastic to watch at 10,15 pm followed by the Fireworks from the barge in the River.
I have been to most cruise terminals in the world, and ONLY Liverpool can put on a show like that. The Ships are there on the Pier Head where all the Attractions are, so the Passengers can see what is happening.
The Films spread across the Three Buildings, incredible. One and a half Million people enjoyed the Best Free show on earth. The decks on QM2 were full of spectators. could see all their cameras flashing.
On Monday, we saw the QM2 sail down to the sea to meet up with the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria and then sail up river again, with QE in the lead, followed by QVic and then QM2. We were stood at the rails by the Liverpool Museum at the edge of the Mersey the ships stopped opposite us and we had the `best seat in the house` to watch the `River Dance`.
The three ships in line stayed in that position for a while then they started to turn to Starboard on their Bow and Stern Thrusters and slowly turned 180 degrees to face North. and stopped again for a while, then Queen Victoria slowly moved ahead and slowly sailed down the Port Side of QMS and Queen Elizabeth slowly moved down the Starboard side of QM2 and then they all stayed there exactly inline in a perfect position.
The crowds were all cheering at their performance. One and a half Million people all cheering makes one hell of a lot of noise.
After a while the Queen Mary 2 blew her whistle three times and slowly started to move ahead and then continued down the Mersey and out to sea bound for Guernsey.
Then Queen Elizabeth started to move ahead and went to the Cruise Terminal on the Pier head and Queen Victoria then moved up a bit to be closer to the Pier Head and dropped anc
A fantastic Show of three giant `Cunarders` that will never be seen again.
Later in the afternoon we joined the Mersey Ferry and sailed alongside the Queen Vic and round the stern and down the other side then alongside the Queen Elizabeth and round and back around the Queen Vic again, a Forty Five minute trip.
Later at 10 pm we were all on the Pier Head again to see the Sound and Light Film Show on the three Graces, this show can be seen and heard by both Cruise ships. We saw the same show the previous night but it is so fantastic it had to be seen again, it was then followed by the Fire Work Display from the river. At 11 pm, the Queen Elizabeth let go and slowly came off the berth and started to move down River outward bound as the Queen Victoria heaved up the anchor and moved alongside the Terminal. a very colourful display of lights.
The Queen Victoria sails today at 5pm after a Sail Away party at the Pier Head.
a Fantastic three days that will never be repeated. nor repeated anywhere in the world. because only Liverpool has the facilities for that kind of event.

Seems as though Cunard has started something.
Received an advertisement from Fred Olsen, his four ships will meet in July next year in Bergen.

It Certainly will not be as good as the Liverpool meeting of the Cunard ones. but should be interesting to see.

Due to a long standing prior engagement I was unable to travel to Liverpool to see the 3 Queens. As a former employee of Cunard I would dearly liked to have been in that magnificent city to witness something special. However I would like to thank those members who took the time out to post information and links to the event, in particular Jim B. Keith at Tregenna and Brian for his excellent description of the days proceedings. Not being computer literate myself, at least not to the level of most other members, it was greatly appreciated to be able to see the 3 Queens on the various videos that had been posted. Once again thanks a lot lads.
    Regards
    John

Correct ,Jim. Anyone who couldn't make it should watch it, I have really enjoyed the last few days, As the Pier Head was heaving we had a meal with the family Weather spoons South Road a few pints and took it all in by the radar on the Marina, There was 1,000s down there never missed a thing and I have really enjoyed this bank holiday, Fabulous ships fabulous sights, And not one arrest on Merseyside in the last 3 days regarding the sisters, A great bit of history for the M.N. ships and seaman of Liverpool and beyond, And not all Cunard Yanks Terry.
