Re: Three Queens Liverpool Visit.
Must have got the timing for that manoeuvre spot on, slack water, top of the tide. Bet there were some itchy bums on the bridges as they synchronised the turn being so close to each other.
An ex ship mate of mine is one of the chief pilots on the Mersey, wonder if he was on one of them?
The "One Show", 7pm on BBC1 last night devoted a lot of its time to the event, bit cheesy in parts but some good on board shots.

Re: Three Queens Liverpool Visit.
According to the Cunard spokesman, first time for 50 years to load trans atlantic passengers from Liverpool. They will return to Southampton, which is the only place they can handle the turn around times. They were a lovely sight, kt

Some good ship handling there John, and I guess there would have been many itchy bums, no matter how professional you are/were, with the whole world watching, heard that the pilots practised for hours on a simulator, but simulators are not the real thing when the unexpected can happen in real time. Hats off to everyone concerned both on deck and the engineers for responding who may well at times been thinking 'don't fail me now baby' as they pushed their buttons or pulled their levers to keep everything running for the bridge controls. Just imagine a domino effect with those three ladies, ouch!
