I joined on April 23rd, 1963 in Lourenco Marques, Mocambique, after growing up in Rhodesia, and was taken aboard the "Ayreshire" bound for Hobart Tasmania as a 1st trip cadet.

Hullo Derek,
I was also on the King Alfred. I was Purser / Chief Steward on her, Joined her in Sweden still on the stocks and did the maiden voyage with her. I left her in Antwerp.
