BP Iolair Brest
Hi Rae sorry for not getting back to sooner, but I have been at work since Wednesday morning and just got home at 6.30 tonight, anyway the Iolair, I joined in Brest as well, but the chief cook was a Geordie cannot remember his name, one of the chief steward was somebody Benson ??? Cannot remember his first name the chief steward was a Scottish guy always panicking cannot remember his name either, I must be getting old cannot remember much it will come back to me eventually. Anyway we took her out of Brest still with the builder’s yard directors and catering manager on board, I do remember we use to get a free can of beer or two with our dinner from him; the ship was handed over in Falmouth Bay then we took her to the Fortis Field to go on station. I will look for my discharge book on Sunday and get the dates; I was also on the Solair for 2 diving seasons and on the Kiwi (coltair) for a year or so not to Keen on her chief cook was somebody Harrison he was ACDC did not get on with him we did month on month off, I did two weeks with him so my first two weeks I did night shift to keep out his way. Need to look at discharge book to find out where I went to after that. I be off now will try to update you on Sunday regards Stewart
