Something strange happened I saw a large Pic of someone in a Grey Coat back view "Honest" not kidding it came up and then vanished he also had one of those slim type Army Caps on like a sort of Beret? Spooky!
It was a sort of a Blue/Grey in colour and full back view as plain as can be. Shivers up my spine to tell the truth

Career Laid down as War Zebra. 10.09.1919: Launched. 30.10.1919: Completed as Gurna for British India Steam Navigation Company at a cost of £173,200. 04.1940: Came under the Liner Division. 10.1940: Transferred to the Admiralty and fitted out at Singapore as a mine carrier, flying the Blue Ensign as a Royal Fleet Auxiliary. 02.1941: In the Great Bitter Lake in the Suez Canal, supplying mines from her 2,000 capacity to submarines operating in the Mediterranean and survived numerous bombing raids unharmed. She later transferred to the Pacific Fleet. 03.1946: Returned to commercial service. 1946/1948: Listed as having accommodation for 30 passengers in space built for wartime mine maintenance staff. 17.11.1948: Sold to British Iron & Steel Corporation for £13,000. 29.11.1949: Arrived at Rosyth where she was scrapped by Metal Industries (Salvage) Ltd

does the gurna service record in ww2 tie in with the ribbons awarded to mr russell or do you think he was captain on possibly other ships also.. thankyou

Quite possible could have been a Captain on another Vessel ??
