Got it, it’s invisible writing between the lines of an ordinary letter written in invisible ink, and have to hold against a candle flame to bring out the writing, be careful however as if the flame touches the paper. Whooosh you’ve lost the lot hidden content included. JS.

A few years ago there were all sorts of innuendos and people’s opinions who know absolutely zilch on freemasonry. I at the time put out with a definition which upset some old masons on site so shut up to keep the peace. However was not Given any secrets away and at open days that various lodges have, it is quoted as what freemasonry is. Will repeat once again and for those who think shouldn’t, is accepted by GL for public knowledge. masonry is a peculiar system of morality, veiled in allegory, and illustrated by symbols.what people don’t know they are like today’s press they make up themselves. Well John , I would have thought that by my very name you may have twigged !!!! but obviously not.

Your father may have been one Lewis as your name implies. However that does not make you a Freemason. If however you were, you should have no wish to not say so, unless of course you are trying to uphold long out of date traditions by following the title of the post. Cheers. JWS.

All my family are, I was invited but declined. I have nothing against the masons. Never did me any harm and thankfully were there for us as a family when my dad died at the age of 46. They looked out for my mum until she also crossed the bar. My dad was a past Master and my dads brother, my Uncle Billy was the Grand Master of the Hong Kong lodges way back in the 1960's
I was approached again when I lived in Spain, again I said no thanks. The individual who approached pointed out that one of the benefits was that if you were a member and when you died they paid for the funeral!!!. I responded that my understanding of being a mason was not to seek benefits but more along the lines of assisting others in need. The Masonic lodges in Spain seem to be nothing more than a men's drinking club with the odd ladies night thrown in. It is just something that has never interested me.

You are of course just referring to the Craft Lodge I assume. Whatever grips you Lewis. One mans meat another mans poison. Those Spanish liodges sound interesting. The one thing I always find even today how similar is a Lodge to a ships crew. Their close to corresponding ranks under different titles can be picked out to any seafarer. The master of any Lodge his powers depend on that individual lodges own Bye-Laws. When I was in the chair my mother lodge permitted me to give 300 dollars to charity, above that it had to go to the members to vote on. Will bring it up at the next meeting about how the Scottish lodges pay for funerals just for self interest of course. Cheers Sayonara and Kampai JWS.
