The newer Hollywood was a clean products carrier and joined her in Bangla Mashur... Iran and did two trips to Japan with a full load of Naptha. Was then taken off and flew down to Newcastle NSW via Sydney to join the Laurelwood which was tank cleaning in Newcastle prepatory to 3 months on the NZ coast running from the Oil Depot at Whangerai as far south as Bluff and all ports in between. The bloke looking for info. on his rellie still have this feeling , if the bloke who wrote about his worse xmas at sea will have vivid memories of the Rosewood and is likely if the person was there at time will remember. Getting out of Iran was harder at the time than getting in as was the time of the Shah of Persia being deposed. Cheers JS

To those posters on this thread who are looking for mementos of their loved ones lives whilst at sea. I am no expert on badges and have only just accrued one after first going to sea 66 years ago and was only this site that got me to make enquiries. However there is on site somewhere the e-mail address of two sources to apply for. I applied to the MNA one, and suggest this would be the way to go. The person I was in contact with is an ex seafarer himself so will realize any quandrys you may have. The other E-mail address I don't know as never applied to them but no doubt they will be similar. They will however require your relations particulars as proof. This can all be done on e-mail, and is no great stress. Regards to those looking for. JWS

Ivan.... You are probably more up on medal etiquette than me. When wearing medals either miniature or full. Does the likes of the MN Badge go above or below the medal, or can you wear the badge on the other collar. Just so I know where to put on Anzac Day. Cheers JS

Ideally on the left lapel John, but I have seen it worn on the left breast above the medals, but there are others on site better qualified than I to comment

Thanks Ivan, I was expecting a pin, but the badge is just under an inch and a half X just under .75 inch. The only ones I had seen previously was a pin that went into the button hole. Has a small safety pin on back for holding in place. Any bigger could nearly fly. Obvious place would be above miniature medals and would nearly extend the full row. However don't want some Colonel in the Reserves coming up and telling me the dress code is wrong. As will be as always in dinner suit, and he will be in uniform however don't see how he can make any critisisms to a civilian. JS

I wear mine above the other medals John. an SAS Man told me that was the way to do it.
I ordered through the MNA and had to show photo copies of my Discharge Book to prove it.
I had my first one and the pin broke off and fell on the floor, nearly lost it., I wrote for a replacement and got it, I now have it on a small safety chain from the Jewelers as a safety in case of loss.
    Cheers

Here is the proper positioning of how to wear your lapel badge JS.
The heroe is seen wearing his Armed Forces Veterans Badge on left lapel.
You should wear your Merchant Navy Armed Forces Badge in the same position.

Two World War Two heroes from Bridgend have received France's highest honour for their part in D Day - Wales Online

This is our Lou with his medals.
He has his MN Vets badge on the right. and all his other medals on the left.

Two MN Vets with their medals on but no MN Vets badge, but another badge above the Medals.
I guess if you have earned them please your self.
