No Terry I wouldn't be on the road to nowhere, I started on deep sea trawlers when I was 13, and if I couldn't have done that, then I would have done something else, you 'make' your own luck in life and you don't blame others for your own perceived misfortunes. I wasn't 'given' a chance I 'searched' for it and pestered trawler owners until I got what I wanted, nothing was never handed to me on a plate, nor have I had a single 'benefit' and believe me I've seen both sides of the coin on more than one occasion.

Terry I was never 'given' any chances, at 13 years old I went and 'found' chances and got a job on a deep sea trawler, pestering trawler owners for weeks, and if I hadn't got that I would have found something else, I was never 'given' any chances, and my contract was very 'zero' no pay at all, just relying on tips after each 3 week trip when the others got paid, and believe me if you didn't work hard you never got tipped. So enough of the sob stories of today's 'no opportunities' they are there if needs must, but you have to get off your backside

Well Ivan we have one thing in common I was working at the age of 13 2 jobs 5am milk round and delivering groceries nights and weekends, Benefits where no use to me when I finished with the sea in 1980 3 young kids so it was off to London where I worked bloody hard but got the financial reward very dangerous work, Ivan, i Don't understand why there are members here who think I am knocking them, If you only new what I do now, I don't believe anyone in this country get a free ride on benefits, I admit there are shirkers but this government have spent millions on rooting them out, And don't forget a lot of single young men in this country don't sign on the dole at all, They get by other ways, They have no choice Regards Terry.
