what is classed as an island i always thought it was land surrounded by water is Australia an island with the Suez canal is Africa an island?? one to ponder.jp

Yes John I agree. Just recently was watching one of my favourite TV quiz programmes which asked for any island bigger than the IOM which was an independant nation. The 6 or 8 contestants gave varying answers one being wrong with Malta for example, others Madagascar etc. The programme at the end of the quiz gave other possible answers with Australia as one. I was arguing with my good lady that it was a continent, but I suppose it did follow the other side being an independant nation.

Then of course there is "Rhode" Island, and if we spell it a different way its not surrounded by water. or all the cars would sink (Sorry)
