Lou just out of interest were you given a POW number. If so do you remember it like your Dis A. number. Servicemen were given a number which suppose those who were in the services will remember, dont know if they still get one. Cheers John S

    Hi Lou
I would guess not many at all my friend!
I do know however that when I received my Crew Listing papers, there are some very interesting Logs listed in most all pages from various Ships, makes some interesting reading I must say!
Just an example! One Log entry talks about a crew Member (Name Given too) that went beserk with a Knife and had to be restrained, I recall that incident too!
    Cheers

Wish I still had my original Book, but have at least got all copies of all my Entries plus as said the Crew Lists, also have the Voyage Record Cards of them all,so in all haven't done too badly, except for all the costs and waiting times involved! But well worth every Penny!

    If you survived a sinking.
It must have been a hassle. Just tracing your rating, and getting a new book and records.
    What was the procedure.?

Good to know that you got all your papers etc back Lou,especially the DBook,as they are a real keepsake and the older ones will one day be quite a rare thing to own.
I am sure that yours will be one of them in time, even now it would be something special.
My late Uncle who passed on,left me his one DBook,I was veylucky to get it,as it was his first one (he had three in all) it is something that I will treasure until my time is over.
It will then go to one of his Children in the UK.
The other two books are in the care of is Son,so I have made arrangements for the one I have to go to his Daughter in England.
    Cheers

As said Lou wish I never lost mine, but it wasn't really my fault.
    Long story.

I still have my dad's two books, same name as me but R96096, make more interesting reading than my own, can only hope that grandchildren will respect them as much as I do. Alas things of the past are not as treasured as they used to be, only when it's too late in a lot of cases. Physical feel doesn't mean anything now because it can be 'looked up' on Google

#9, Ivan, Hope you don't mind me suggesting that you should tell your grandchildren of your feelings, then if not interested your MN memorabilia could perhaps be gifted to a MN museum. My children are aware of what I want to be kept for my grandchildren regarding family tree, precious photographs and bits & bobs from my gt,grandparents etc. I appreciate everything that I have acquired over the years, it's not much but I treasure it. Yours might be too young at present, but through time at least one may surprise you.
