    Default Discharge Book

    Hello,

I'm in South Tyneside College finishing off my studies in phase 7 and soon will approach the orals. The problem is, I have lost my discharge book and I need it for my NOE application. What bad luck huh?!

I have told my sponsoring company, I have to see them to sort out what needs to be done for a lost discharge book but I have done my own research. Apparently I need discharge papers? Are these produced on the ships I've served and they need to be requested from the master of that particular vessel or do companies have copies of the discharge papers in their office. Not sure how they organise that....

I can get myself a new discharge book apparently on the spot if i pay a little extra. Luckily I live near Tyne Dock where they can produce a new discharge book for myself.

Can someone confirm this informtation for me? Thanks in advance.

Discharge Books & British Seamans Cards

A discharge book is a continuous record of a seafarers service. It is the personal possesion of the seafarer. The British Seaman's Card is similar to a British Passport and is internationally accepted, allowing seafarers to land at foreign ports without having to obtain visas. The card is surrendered to RSS by the seafarer when he/she leaves seagoing employment. Guidance notes on qualifying criteria are attached to the application form.
