    Default Brenda Shackleton

Yesterday Wed 19th I had the very good fortune to meet Brenda and Her husband Peter .I knew they were coming on a short visit to Dunedin as they are doing a tour of NZ .I met them at there hotel about 10am and we had a very interesting talk ,they told me they are really enjoying their tour in NZ .I then suggested that I would take them for a short tour around Dunedin so I drove out to the beach ST Kilda and St Clair where we had lunch kindly on Peter .Brenda gave me some photos of her father who was captain on a rescue ship Goodwin who was in the Russian convoys I think the story is somewhere on this site But I did really enjoy their short visit they sure made my day I Hope they have a safe and enloyable trip home

For those watching the epic voyage of Capt. Kong. He leaves Perth 1700 hrs. tonight (sober) for Singapore. Arrives back in Boltonstan next Saturday I believe. No doubt he will have a good time in Singapore. Cheers John S.

We spent a lovely day with Lou in Dunedin - and he brought his Liverpool Meet-Up Red Duster.

Hi Brenda I had a pm from Lou the day after he met up with you he told me it was a pleasure to meet you and your husband and that you are MN right through. It's good to see Lou with the signed ensign from the Liverpool meet up which he thoroughly enjoyed and all hands were pleased to meet him of course.Maybe the next meet up you can pop in and meet some more of the lads off the site,I'm sure you could tell them a few yarns about your dads time on the convoys etc.Incidently when your dad worked in his position for the MDHB did you live in the company houses on the dock estate atall.?I enjoyed the pictures with Lou also.
    Regards.

Thank you for your kind words, Jim. I hope to be at the Liverpool Meet-up if at all possible.
No, we didn't live on the Dock, as the Dock Masters' Houses had been damaged during the Blitz. They were not habitable until some years after the War.
    regards

Hi Brenda the intended date is the end of May and I believe that there is quite a bit going on on the river just then so if you are there to see any of that it would be handy to pop in and meet the boys.Heres hoping that you can.
    Regards.
