I wouldnt mind doing one,my Wife went on one whilst i Frankfurt dowm the Rhine and into the Winelands Areas, she said it was fantastic!

Re: A German river cruise
Think Louis was referring to a different type of cruise. Would be interesting to know how many are still alive who would not want to fly Lufthansa as too near the name of the Luftwhaffe. I suppose this Airline would attract many customers by having mock attacks by aircraft looking like spitfires. Cheers John Sabourn

Re: A German river cruise
My sister went on one earlier this year and said it was OK but not as exciting as expected. Lady i know here who has done a number fo normal cruises did one and was aslo not that impressed. Service is good, food is good but ports of visit are all very much alike and there is little or no on board entertainment.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Sounds good to me John. I don't think river cruises are meant to be exciting! Relaxing and educational,yes....and I'm no misanthropist, but that's one reason why I won't go on cruises or organised holidays.I find my own entertainment..It seems that the tourist nowadays is all about getting more for their money-and non-stop entertain us,entertain us all the way..No thanks! Holidays to me mean relaxation-that means getting away from the crowd.I'd die if I was trapped on a river boat with a few dozen pretentious, boring loud-mouthed fellow travellers.
Sheep-follower I am not.

Seems your humour got lost in there Lou, German cruise with Japan as a destination definitely not recommended. These river cruises are so expensive and from what I've been told by those undertaking them very class concious if you don't have a cabin at deck level, it's 'oh dear'

Re: A German river cruise
Agree fully with the cruise sentiment Gulliver, although quite enjoyed the coach trip to the Rhine area last this year, but an example of people wanting to be entertained was the coach dropped us into Koblensk for a free day, one women approached the driver to ask what we did there !!!, he replied its a free day to explore, she said ," but what can we do ". We were dumbfounded . Myself and my wife spent Christmas at a Warners holiday camp, never again, food fantastic, entertainment if you wanted it seemed good etc etc, but it was just not us, and at least we could go for a walk to get away from people, KT

Think Lou would of appreciated a bottle of Chardonay on his cruise, and maybe a wine waiter to serve it. Cheers John Sabourn

Re: A German river cruise
There is No way I would go on one, Don't like Germans, don't like Europe, my idea of hell to be on a German river cruise. I have done my very best to keep away from Europe for twenty years.
Much rather go to the South Pacific, the Islanders there are nicer and more genuine people than any European.
Last time, I said that Europe should be used as a nuclear testing ground, but I wont this time as some people objected. BUT the French used Tahiti as a Nuclear testing ground a few years ago and a lot of the islanders are still suffering the effects of radiation.
Cheers
