Hello
Hello Fellow seafarers, One and All,
My name is Marcel Koenig, my close friends and family call me Marcy, this name was given to me to differentiate between my Dad and myself, he is also Marcel.
I went to sea at the age of 16 on board The MV Mauritius, yes the Island of my birth. I sailed under the command of Captain Williams as a cadet.
In 1967 I attended King Edward VII Nautical college in London and obtained my Second Mate Foreign Going and in 1968 rejoins the MV Belle Rive. I owed my success to Captain Dennis Scott Williams who supported me throughout my studies. If you are reading this I want to thank you for having treated me as a son and being a father to me.
In 1969 I emigrated to Australia and pursued my carreer on Australian ships and obtained my Master's certificate.
I am now retired and pursue some research in a Marine Instrument invented by Mr. de Sornay, only a drawing of this instrument remains. The instrument is designed to find Longitude at sea, it is a fascinating subject. Unfortunately this was rejected by the astronomers in Paris, a long story. The instrument was called "Heliopt".
More about this later...
Thanking you.
Marcel (Marcy) Koenig
