G'day Joe and welcome to the site. Maybe you could supply some ships and dates, never know who may be out there that remembers you. So sit back with a cold one and enjoy the voyage.

    Gday John,

Thanks for the welcome. I will dig out the discharge book and name names and dates , so many after 50 odd years I will have to write an abreviated list.
But I am sure there will be somebody out there that will remember me. Mind you thats if the big "A" has not crept up on us !!!

    Take care ,

Besst Regards to you down under.

    Default The Palm Boats

    Hi Joseph,
Though I dont think we ever met, though I was with Palm Line from about 1956 to 61, serving as 5th and 4th engineer. Being a steam man I left when the "Gasmen" came in as when I joined they only had the Gambia and the Takoradi both real hard case jobs built in Germany pre war with 2 Mann engines driving shaft through a Vulcan clutch.

My first ship was the Matadi with Captain Coffey, Mate Bert Hollian, 2nd Mate Eric Moat, 3rd Mate Jimmy
Punton, R/O (another Irishman) Maurace O'Eegan.
Engineers were, Chiefs Leahy and Bill Chisholm, 2nd Joe Monkhouse, 3rd's Hughy O'Donavan and Brian Clode, 4th's Jack Uliat and Adam Love

I then joined the Lokoja Chief Des Pollard 2nd Jack Jones, Commadore 3rd Jacko (Bob Jackson)
Old man Captain Masters,Mate not sure, 2nd Mate Stefan Gorlick (Polish) 3rd Mate Not sure Apprentice Bruce Manning.

Then to the dreaded Mendi (a real hard case job) but she did have draught beer (Barclays Wrexham Lager) Chief Bunker Bruce (ex Booths) 2nd Al Buckley 3rd and 5th not sure,
Oldman Not Sure, Mate Vic Fisher, 2nd Mate Mike Hurley, 3rd Mate Tom Nash A Cork man

Hope these trigger off some memories
    Roy

G'day Roy and welcome to the site. Good list of ships there, any dates to go with them. If you list them on site it is quite possible someone will remember you.
