    Hi Brian

Yes I was, for 18 years. Small coastal fleet, then deep sea/large coastal fleet through the 80's, then back to small coasters. Last ship was the Avon.

    Hi Malcolm,
I was with ESSO deep sea 3rd Mate on most of the big ones until they started to disappear then onto the coastal fleet, much better, favourite one was the Caernarvon, on the Jersey Guernsey run for two years until she was sold. I was on the Avon a few times even when she was being built in Holland. My brother, John Aspinall, was 2nd Mate on her for a while, Took early retirement in 1987, and then went dredging on the infamous BOWBELLE. etc.
catch you later, dinner is ready. SHE is shouting.
    Cheers
    Brian

    Hi Brian
I remember both you and John, sailed with John, and I think you relieved me once on the Woolston (or was it the Brixham?). One of the two anyhow. I was in the bottom 2nd Mates cabin right over the top of the Stbd genny although the noise never bothered me much. Happy days.

    Hi Malcolm
It must have been the Woolston, I didn't sail on the Brixham.
When John retired from Esso, he had a Brewery, near Liverpool
Did well Brewing and selling ales from Shropshire in the South and up the the Lake District in the North.
He sold out to another Brewery last year, and lives in Knowsley near Liverpool.
    Cheers
    Brian
