Welcome
I am watching the Moon Alert they are just about to smash the Moon to see if there is water up there. Don't they know the Moon is made of Stilton cheese. Hello my Dear friends, You are great detectives! I am glad we are on the same team. I have also been e-mailing places. I think it will take actual visits to the area. My cousin who lives in Australia will be going to the UK next year and he will have to visit the places that have archived documents. Thank you for your help. Very Sincerely, Karola
...if I don't make haste, I shall have to go back through the looking-glass...back into the old room-and there'd be an end of all my adventures! ... Sending my happy thoughts through the looking-glass. ♡ ƙarola My uncle's information: R109897 ROBIN, Arthur John born 20 - Mar - 1915 Glasgow, Scotland died 25 - Apr - 1953 at Seaman's Hospital Greenwich, Kent

Hello Vernon, Good to hear from you. I'm still searching! I received a response from the Greenwich Council very nice lady referred me to the Admiralty which deferred their records to the director of Greenwich Hospital. So that is one possibility in terms of information. If I could get the 'release of remains' record from the hospital that may help because it would indicated what mortuary or maybe where to body was transferred to. I have not received another e-mail yet from my cousin in Australia. It is his father we are searching for. I had forwarded all the information to him. Plus I shared some other family history with him which may have shocked and over whelmed him. So he may be taking some time to take a deep breathe. It is funny that it is easier to get data on our distant relatives but blood relatives that lived in our own life time can not be found so easily. For example: I contacted a person on a genealogy site that I had read some years ago. She had noted the name of my great great grandfather I e-mailed her and received next day a response. Wow! She forwarded an old correspondence from a person in New York who was doing some research for a friend of a lady in Scotland who had a copy of my grandfather's marriage licence of his first wife. What does this mean? Not much in the scheme of finding my uncle's final resting place but it does give me a timeline of my grandfather's life So the search goes on! Thanks for checking in. Best wishes Karola P.S. I have really enjoyed this site great gallery of vintage Cunard posters, postcards and other memorabilia.
hi john and vernon. the A2 has changed many times and over the years has been throuh sidcup, bypassed sidcup, gone through greenwich and now passes it by. if i remember it still goes over blackheath. the powers that be have been moving the roads for years. the oldest road in the country the A5, now only exists in parts.cheers. alf

Thank you Graham! Every suggestion helps! It is crazy but I am finding that ancestors from over 100 years ago are easier to find! Trying to find some one, a blood relative, that lived in this century is like searching for that crazy needle in that crazy hay stack! It is probably right in front of our noses. You never know I might blink and it will be there. I think my uncle is having a wee laugh right now! He is wondering what all the fuss is about! From what my mom once told me that he enjoyed a good joke. I have been e-mailing several places so hope to hear from them soon. Thanks again, Karola
Karola Another thought Go to the Registrar of Births & Deaths at Greenwich Council,"Greenwich Seamans Hosp" is in this borough and all deaths WITHIN the borough MUST be registered with them, ie Disposal of body certificate etc, with the info you have a positive result is well possible. My Grandfather died around this time, later my sister had to have the family grave opened to include my mothers remains, she had no idea where the grave was but they informed her exactly and even arranged the opening. Bit morbid I know but could be of help to you. Kind regards.
Great thought indeed! Graham you are a Sweetheart! This is a perfect example that it can be done! Thank you so much! This gives hope. Karola
Hello Karola Well seems like much good info coming from all parts now for you,and i hope that it will lead to something positive! All you can do is to follow up on all leads amd see what happens! I am still awaiting some info i had sent for relating to your quest, and will let you know if anything of importance comes up! Anyway you keep plodding in the meantime, and i wish the best of luck to you! Till later then Cheers
