Thank you again, Hugh...I will get back to you about the possibility of Kew...very helpful. Would he definitely have a service record? (this might be a silly question!)

What we don't know is when he joined the MN. All we have so far is a date of 1946 and this indicates RN service (T124T) so he may or may not have served prior to and beyond this date. If he had any substantial service in the Deep Sea Rescue Tugs (DSRT) then he will have a service record held in BT 390 as linked already. If he served in the MN post DSRT service then his record will be in a CRS 10 and I will give you the file reference tomorrow when I have some time. That way you could check out both files at the one time.

Your're welcome Ros. His CRS10, if there was one for him, will be held at Kew in piece BT 382/585. So you should check that one out along with BT 390/170.
