Unfortunately these so called researchers leave a lot to be desired, but even they should have been able to find the BT391 file. It is of course possible his CRS-10 service file has not survived, but wait and see what your sister can dig up by looking through the BT382/648 file number covering the surnames "Gill B to Gilland S" and as I said do not worry about the discrepancy in the year of his birth, as mentioned quite a common mistake, it's the Discharge Book number which is the important one. Don't worry about any complications, as I will guide you through the whole process if and when his CRS-10 is found. Most surviving Movement Cards for ships are now available to order on line for about £3.50 per ship to tie up with the dates on his CRS-10. It is then a simple case of making an application at Cardiff.

One other piece of advice would be to pre-order the BT382/648 file in case it maybe being used by another researcher and just order the BT391/38/59 anyhow as it is his own personal file relating to him volunteering for the Normandy Camapign.
