Greetings from North Wales , thank goodness we are getting thru winter ,and hopefully a bit of sunshine not too far away .
Where I live I overlook the quarry jetty sticking out into the Irish Sea at Llandulas , I did spend a while on coasters dodging in and out of the small ports in the 1960s , in those days the coastal waters were fairly clear , now ships have to negotiate oil rigs and wind farms . looking out to sea from here I can see a forrest of pillars with the wind blades turning on them , quite a navigational nightmare .

i did ask my local mp on the closing of Crosby coast guard station what would happen if a ship was to loose steerage and power and start drifting on incoming or outgoing tides on the Mersey as well as wind farms gas rigs and an oil terminal it would turn into a nightmare. they have also taken the salvour and vigilant of the river a few years ago and the question then was with the expansion of Liverpool airport take off is over the river and they were the only handy lifting ships on the river i am still waiting after all this time?jp

Hiya Jim, I loaded a few times at Llandulas with Robertsons of Glasgow. Limestone for Norway. Also loaded at Penmaenmawr many years ago, granite chippings for Preston and Manchester.

I have not been up there for years so have not seen all the windmills.
