    Default Parracombe

Thank you for the posting on Parracombe. I have downloaded the photograph. We have an interesting document concerning a voyage of this ship. George Grant wrote an account of a particular voyage on the Parracombe, starting on 14 September 1937, from the Tyne. The Master was Captain J Hart and George Grant was the second mate. He describes the various cargoes that were taken and the ports visited. The voyage lasted 299 days, with 196 days at sea. They travelled 42,275 nautical miles using 5,000 tons of coal. I could give more detail of this if anyone is interested. This account is part of a dissertation on Bulk Cargoes, which George Grant submitted as part of a degree course, which he did while in the RAF in Cambridge during WWII.

I'm very grateful for the help I'm receiving from members of this forum.
