Port Line Documents
Hello everyone
I joined because a friend of mine, who used to work for shipping lines, gave me some old Port Line documents. They are amazing - all the Port Line steamer positions from around 1914-18. There are various logs talking about voyages, cargos and I see a mention of a torpedo. I have not really read them....there are pages and pages. Also, some documents with steamer positions etc. go back to the 1890s. I don't know what to do with them! I could take some pictures and post material if people are interested. Regards, David M.

Welcome
Welcome to the site David
It is to be hoped that you enjoy the content here which is as varied as the members.
It sounds like you have a veritable treasure trove of material there which I am sure some of the ex-Port Line members would love to get their hands on.

Hello to Port Line enthusiasts
Many thanks for viewing the old Port Line documents. They were rescued from a skip 30 years ago, would you believe! Hopefully they should all be scanned soon and kept in some sort of database. I have uploaded pictures of some pages to the History section in the gallery. If anyone would like more information please email info@cleverwriting.co.uk. All the best, David M.

Good afternoon
Brian suggested that I should try for better quality by having the Port Line documents scanned. He's right - my secretary is doing just that, and they are coming out very well. There is a log on Port Kembla, which talks about her sinking in 1917. Will upload to History Gallery. Also, if anyone knows anything about Cablegrams (which I don't) there was one in our ' treasure trove' box. It was sent from Cunard in New York to Cunard in Liverpool, and is all about the ship's sinking in November 1918. We're trying to get a good quality image of the Cablegram. Regards from David M.
