What happened to my Granduncle?
Hello Everyone,
My name is Stephen Sherlock. Born in West London but now live in Japan. I gave-up television in 2005, since then I have used the internet for everything.
My Granduncle was born "Francis Xavier Allen" 4 Apr 1889, Stafford Street, Marylebone, London. I've got his Birth Certificate.
On 4 Apr 1907 he joined the Royal Navy for 12 years and served on 9 war ships under the name of "Francis George Allen". I've got his service record from the Public Record Office.
After the Navy, as far as I can see, he joined the Merchant Navy.
I've got a "List or Manifest of Aliens Employed as Members of Crew for the SS Carpentaria arriving in New York August 1920 from Hull, England. He served as an A.B.
Also I've got a C.R.10. No of Identity Certificate 413478.
Next to a photo of him it has Carpentaria 18-3-21.
As much as I have searched, I have not been able to find anything else about him.
What I'm looking for is a death date - marriage, if any - addresses, if any, anywhere - or anything else for that matter.
I would very much appreciate any help at all.
Sincerely
Stephen
