My Late Uncle Brice Thompson
[B][
Hello Everyone,
I am trying to obtain any old photos, or get in touch with anyone who knew my late uncle, Brice Thompson, who served on RMS Andes during the 1960s. During the late 1960's to mid 1970's, he worked on the QE2.
My uncle Brice was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1928, and died in Kensington, London in April 1986. He spent the vast bulk of his life in the Navy, and prior to joining the Navy, spent two to three years in The Royal Corps Of Signals from circa 1946 TO 1949 ( my grandfather's regiment and also called Brice Thompson ). Had my uncle Brice be still living, he would be 83, which is frightening, because all my photos of him, are as of a young man. During shore leave in the 1960's, he lived in Devon, if that information is of any use to anyone, including Beer and Plymouth.
I would be over the moon, if anyone has any old photos of him, they could post on this forum, or anyone who served with him. Many thanks.
Kind regards,
Albert Thompson

Welcome
Hi Albert
Well i hope that you may get some luck in your quest,i have looked at the NArchives to see if there is an entry for him,but cannot find one!
I know this is possibly not what you are exactly looking for but thought that a PIc of him when in the MN would at least be something!
Anyway here is a site that may assist you!??
I know its of much earlier Seaman, but possibly they may be able to assist!
All the best and welcome to the site!
Cheers
Ordering CR10 copies : Irishmariners.ie - an index of Irish merchant seamen active 1918-1921
Found only the following one out of 100 pages at the NArchives!with that DOB and place ?? Could there be other Initials?

Hi Albert,
I knew your uncle Brice Thompson from the "Andes" he used to look after the garden on A Deck. I remenber he often used to visit friends on the Isle of Wight. He was often in the ships concerts which took place in the Andes theatre. I do have one photo of him at a Christmas Party in the Andes restaurant. I will be happy to send it to you Kind regards David

Hi David,
Thanks a million for your reply. It is absolutely fantastic to get in touch with someone, who not only knew my Uncle Brice, but has a photo of him at the ship's Christmas Party in the Andes restaurant. If you could send this on to me, I would be most grateful.
The friends you mention, who he used to visit on the Isle Of Wight, were most likely my grandfather Brice and his second wife, Elizabeth, who lived in East Cowes.
If there is anything else you tell me about Brice ( anyone else he was friends with etc ), that would also be appreciated. I have been doing the family tree in dribs and drabs for over 11 years, and this would be an invaluable addition to what I have on him. Do you remember much about his participation in the ship's concerts? Anything, no matter how trivial it seems, would be appreciated. That little snippet of information is a gold nugget, as for around 10 years I did some TV and film work as an extra ( some dialogue and some non dialogue ). My eldest daughter takes drama lessons and loves acting.
As I am new to this forum, I do not want to give out my home address for privacy reasons. Is there any way you can send me a private message, where I can give you my address?
After Uncle Brice left the Navy in the mid 1970's, he went to live with my grandparents on the Isle Of Wight, then, circa 1978, he went to live in London, where he spent the remainder of his life.He worked as a handyman, most notably, working as a gardener.
Hoping to hear back from you soon.
Kind regards,
Albert Thompson
