To all the lads and lasses who frequent this great site, a message from Vernon.
He has asked me to explain the following to you.
Over the past two days we have had some very rough weather down the East coast, not so bad here in Victoria, but where Vernon lives it was very bad. As a result many power lines were brought down and roads blocked by falling trees. The road to Vernon's house is blocked by one and a number of houses close to him have sustained roof damage. Vernon however is alright.
But for the next three to four days he will have no power, so no lighting, heating or cooking though he tells me he has a good supply of candles, and tells me cold baked beans are not so bad.
He also asked me to let any one know that he will reply to e-mails as as soon as he has the power, he is not ignoring you, just off the air for a while.

Give Vernon our regards and we are glad that he is okay, also advise him that when he's queueing for the bus that he should advise others in the queue that he has been surviving on baked beans so that they can make appropriate seating arrangements when they get on the bus and sit near open windows.
On a serious note we wish him and his neighbours a speedy recovery from the high winds, the meteorogical type as well

seriously though i trust he and irene are ok and i hope he has a good supply of baked beans, with those and a diving suit he will soon warm up. what he really needs is one of those pedal powered gennies that they had in the outback alf
