Hi Ron,
The name doesnt ring a bell.
I used to know and drink with many seafaring Engineers in Bolton years ago but they have all `gone down below` by now .
I intended to be an Engineer, I was apprenticed at De Havillands, and during the first year, the Managers Secretary who lived in our street told the boss I intended joining the Merchant Navy.
He called me into his Office and said,"I believe you want to join the Merchant Navy when you have served your time." Being a daft gullible 15 year old I said `Yes`.
So He says "You can join tomorrow if you want, We train engineers to stay with us for life not to leave us after all the training, Get your things together and you can go home now and start your new career at sea."
and so I became a Seaman and the reason I am going to the Vindicatrix Reunion tomorrow.
Cheers
Brian.
