Capt Sir Ben Chave KBE
He was my grandfather and I am researching my family history. He joined the Castle Co in 1894 - first ship 'Scot'. Other ships were Armadale Castle, Carisbrooke Castle, Garth Castle, Kildown Castle,Briton, Kenilworth Castle, Walmar Castle, Windos Castle and Sabine. Does any one have any photos of these ships? We have a photo of the 'Briton' with University Emblems and signatures of what I assume to be the officers underneath each one all around the mount. He was also Captain of the Alnwick Castle when she was torpedoed and sank. Would love to hear if anyone knows of him. He died in 1954 in Southampton.

Union Castle info
Hello Vernon,
thank you so much for the great links. Yes lots of photos of the ships I needed. The link re the sale of my grandfathers medals was a REAL eyeopener - they were sold apparently in Oct 1997!! I have emailed the company to try and get some information from them but I don't feel hopeful - confidences etc!
Again huge thanks.
Penny
