Not ppossible
Here in Oz, and no doubt UK the greater majority of MP have never had a real job.
They go to Uni, join the young political group of their choice, get a job as a staffer to a poli then into politics, and on the gravy train.
A think tank here has come up with a suggestion.
All who wish to become politicians must first do at least 10 years in a real job!!!
Then only 3 three year terms in the lower house or 2 four year terms in the senate.
Paid a maximum of only $100,000 per year.
A good concept, might bring some genuine people in.
But the screams from the current lot if such is proposed will be heard around the globe.

John.
What gets me is that politicians can debate about an award in wages to people who actually work, and then tell people what they will earn per hour, Meanwhile they get a huge pay increase and say they didn't do it, an independent body gave it to them. Who puts in the Independent Body?

Hi Cappy.
Don't know about the UK but I found that out here when a bloke took it on without Union backing he usually was paid quite a bit less, I often pointed this out but some didn't seem to care, they're loss not mine.
