Titanic
Not sure how many members saw this one on "the repair shop". A relative of a fireman on Titanic brought in his discharge book for the team to effect some repairs to the cover and loose pages. The crewmans name was Frank Dymond (hope I got that right) and he survived the sinking. When Titanic hit the iceberg he was on his way down below for his watch. The alarms went so he headed up to his lifeboat station and was instrumental in rescuing 67 people. Obviously his original seamans book went down with the ship so the repair job was on his replacement which noted his service on Titanic. Book was numbered R680590. AJ.

Re: Titanic
Hello AJ
Certainly not in any way disputing your Post here but am a wee bit confused by what you post as his Dis Number! Firstly that Number seems to belong to one MacLean N S 31/5/1935 Born in New Zealand according to the National Archives in Kew!?? R680590 MACLEAN N S 31/05/1935 WELLINGTON NEW ZEALAND | The National Archives
And second the Titanic Sank in 1912.
So i hope you dont mind but need some clarification here!???
Cheers
Thanks

Re: Titanic
Have heard of ships that pass in the Night Ivan but they have navigation lights. Always wondered about that song , was it Frank Sinatra , Strangers in the night exchanging glances , how did they manage in the dark.? Now that’s what I call strange. JS

Re: Titanic
I think that program was a repeat as it was mentioned in the thread from a couple of years ago

Re: Titanic
Thanks for the link J G.
I have Skimmed through the attached episode and yes there is the number clearly shown 680590, there is no prefix R on the book from what I can see.
I have taken photos of the books cover and will see if I can upload them.Discharge book.jpg
