How is the frieght charges for a container worked out by weight? I assume that every container is weighed on arrival at the load port. You hear of cases were the shore/ company produced loading plan gets it wrong or the port drops a container in the wrong cell which has led to a container that is supposed to be 5 ton but may well be 20 ton. Also the number of onboard fires in containers that are completely inaccessible has seen some serious causualities. There was a Korean ship not long ago was a total construtive loss when a deep seated fire was carrying fireworks?.
So whoever comes up with a better way to ship vast amounts of cargo around the world will be the next Elon Musk mega rich.
