Re: Scare tactics
Yes John, man is destroying the environment which is leading to Climate change. It is the actions of humans is screwing the planet up. Pumping green house gases into the atmosphere along with other emissions. Destroying the eco system polluting the rivers with run off from farming activity , nitrates and phosphates.
More and more farmers are turning to the sea for fertiliser, using sea weed of which there is an abundance as long as it is not over harvested.

Re: Scare tactics
James, climates can take hundreds of years to change, does not happen in a decade.
But a question for you, the climate of UK is considered to be Temperate, that is a wide change in temperatures, four seasons, and a differing in hours of day and night.
So what will it change to??
But what is man to do, go back to living in caves?
Man claims all he does is in the name of progress, but if that progress is destroying his home then why does he continue.?
Mainly I suspect chasing the mighty dollar, the source of all evil for man.

Re: Scare tactics
John , Spring is kicking off with a cold snap after an unusually mild, sunny and dry winter for most of the UK - with England experiencing its driest February in 30 years. England had its eighth driest February on record and the driest since 1993, with on average just 15.3mm of rain falling in the month.
Yes human greed is helping creating climate change. The worry is the alarming rate of that change.

Re: Scare tactics
James, it appears there is some discrepancy in the weather report you posted.
My niece lives n the south coast and tells me this winter has been the wettest and coldest in over 15 years.
Frost, uncommon so close to the sea.
Mate in Telford could not go Clay Pidgeon shooting much this winter the wet ad cold preventing it.
As you are aware the amount of water on the planet is finite.
Heat raises moisture into the atmosphere where it will accumulate to a point where it can no longer hold the amount.
Precipitation results from this but not at the point where the uptake occurred.
After three consecutive La Nina we had record rain falls this season, but Tuesday set a new record for one spot.
Nhulunbuy is in the tropical Northern Territory where some 304 mm of rain fell in just two hours.
Houses in many such places have no gutter or down pipe for obvious reasons.
So if you had a dry February then maybe that is where you should look for the water.

Re: Scare tactics
I went to sea in 1953 and even then people had or thought they had the answer to what they called bad weather by bringing in the dirty air acts , where ships were fined by local authority’s for emitting funnel smoke in port
Everyone went along with this and complied . All of a sudden scene change and the scientists of wisdom suddenly realise they haven’t emphasised enough or in other words have been not doing their watchkeeping with sufficient efficiency to keep in line with alterations to weather scenarios and wham Bang we have panic. To find seamen joining this panic mob , who are the one profession who live with all types of weather and have seen weather that even the so called experts never have Disconcerts me a bit. Let nature take its course , let humanity get its knickers out of the twist everyone is trying to screw tighter , the world has been through multi so called climate changes over Millions of years and will always do so. Humankind adjusts to the the weather not the other way
round. Take a leaf out of Noah’s book and go and build luxury passenger ships if the condition gets worse over the next 10,000 years if the punitive efforts to slow it down don’t work. Our world according to the life of the Sun has about 15 million years of life left , what’s the betting the same argument will be going on when the lights go out.
