Only in the usa
The death penalty in USA has for many years now been by lethal injection, but now there is a problem
Three drugs are used in it, the first is to put the patient to sleep, second stops the heart, third collapes the lungs.
The first drug is made in France and the French will not allow stock to go to USA as they are opposed to the death penalty.
So last Thursday a guy with some restricted mental ability was executed.
But the first drug used was not as good and according to his lawyer he died in agony, similar to being burned at the stake he claimed.
Was that comment from personal experience one wonders.
Went on to say that his death was little more than torture.
A number of recent executions have been conducted in this manner so now the supreme court has ruled that patients waiting execution must be given a choice of how it is carried out!!
They should now be given a choice of lethal injection knowing it will be painful, bringing back the electric chair for those who may prefer that.
The gas chamber but not with Cyanide but rather with a gas method similar to being suffocated by Co2. or you may be allowed the firing squad.
There has for many years been doubt about the USA and some of the laws, but this is going a bit far.
They have as yet not made an offer on the rope or axe, but may be the French will loan them one given they will not supply the drug.
No mention as yet as to how the convicted may make the choice, do they have to tick a box on a form, or send in a written request?
Still a very odd nation.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
