Special pet names between lovers.
The nicknames between* the love of my life, my late wife, my eternal sweetheart Jeanmarie, when speaking of me to her mates was The Prince.*
This was because she was divorced and single for 12 years.* Her girl friends all but one married, had told*her one day her Prince would come.* I met her through a mutual friend and we decided on a first date.* She told her friends, all neighbors, that she* had met a guy she really liked (me).* I came to pick her up for a date driving*a Cadillac* Coupe de Ville, (I then switched cars with my ex wife, for a Mazda RX 7). Parked it outside her house and I stayed the night.*
About 10pm or so, the neighbors, about eight or ten of em, sang in unison the song from Walt Disney's "Cinderella"..."One day my Prince will come".* Hence forth on the street I was known as the Prince.* Out of the blue one day Jm. asked me how friends address Royalty in Britain, I answered, "By their family name "Windsor "''.*
So that's how "Mills" became her pet name*for me, and "Wallis" (as in Wallis Simpson) became my pet name for her. But I was still "The Prince" to her friends
Okay, give it up, or be a loser, what's your lover's nickname for you and you for her/him and howcome?
Cheers, The Prince (Rodney)

Long ago my dear Wife used to call me Lovie, but that stopped a few Years back and i got the name of Old Fart, even got a Statue of one from her!
I have always called her My Angel, and always will. She is indeed just that sent to me from wherever when i most needed a good Angel in my life , at the time of terrible Turbulence! She straightened me out !
Cheers

The best claim for fame I can make is “ dirty pup “ , which usually comes at end of a sentence like get that shirt off it’s all stained down the front , and your not coming out with me dressed like that, “ you dirty pup” . bow wow .JS

Re: Special pet names between lovers.
My late husband always called me Pettums. In return I called him Buggerlugs. I don't suppose either of them is particularly charming but he was, and always will be, the love of my life. I have no idea now how these names started but they stuck until the day he died.

Depends on whether I'm getting my fortune told but normally just my Val and Den, not very romantic but has lasted for 58 years to date and long may it continue she still recognises me most of the time as Denis and my sons are also Denis. Den

Re: Special pet names between lovers.
Cariad, a Welsh term of endearment.
1 cwtch.jpg
History hundreds of years ago in Wales, when young men, often sailors on sea voyages would carve ornate wooden spoons known as “love spoons”. They would present these love spoons to a woman as a romantic gift. The young men of today would probably buy flowers, chocolates or jewellery as a token of affection. but, here the young man would spend hours carving the lovespoon with his own hands, in the hope that the girl would accept it. If the girl accepted the spoon, she would demonstrate her interest in him and they would commence on a relationship, which is the origin of the word 'spooning'.
At that time, practical skills in a husband would have been very desirable by her parents and a beautifully carved spoon would demonstrate the young man's skills may help provide for her. Today as well as being a gift of affection or a memento of a visit to Wales, Lovespoons are given for many special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, births, engagements, christenings, house warming and St. Valentines Day.
