the nurses do one very extrordinarily difficult job ...i have great admiration for them and the life they chose to follow ......but sadly the threat of strike action over a payrise is not acceptable ......no one can deny that they have been through an exceddingly hard time ....but so have the families of the dead and dying ....the people without jobs ....peoples lost lively hoods ......and losing our old ones ...without seeing them ....i feel it has been very hard for the nurses ...but that is what there occupation entails .......does a fireman ask for more money because the fire is bigger .....no ...does a seaman ask for more money when a typhoon hits ......does a pilot ask for more becauseits bad weather or very stormy ....does a trawlerman ask for more money when there is no catch ....i could go on ....but a nurse chose that career....it is part of the job they took on ....they have seen the truth of the pandemic ......i cant think of anyone asking for more money to run up the beaches on Dday and most probably get shot .......the nurses have done there duty plus but that is there job sadly at this time......i expect much incoming but that is my view.....R683532

it appears that recriutement has been boosted by at least 6000 new applications to join nursing during the last few weeks..the pandemic has brought many persons who want a vocation into the fold.....

#1 That is the truth Cappy. We all for starters should get satisfaction from what we do , monetary gain is secondary and will come in time but will probably come through the good offices of supply and demand. Nursing is a vocation much admired by most who are themselves averse to dealing with damaged people. Going on strike at this particular moment in time will do them and their patients more damage and Ill will than is necessary. I suppose their union leaders will see the time as the best to extort more money for their members , but as said they are going to do more damage by the way people will view the issue. We all go through various disasters of lesser or larger in life at various times , but most don’t take an issue and demand more pay because of it, its what you are paid for in the first place. The last disaster I experienced left me with the legacy of being always watching people for their reactions on a mental stopwatch , and always finding them lacking , too slow and not fast enough to make a decision. That’s all I see when I look at these passenger liners. It’s a phobia I know , but will always be there now. Nurses see death every day and have to live with it , but can’t see them demanding more money per head per death. To push it just now is wrong as they will find out themselves . Cheers JS

Counter act that by the many with own responsibilities that just no longer can afford
to continue to save lives. Once all the foreign staff are sent home, there will be next to
nowt left and then you will see the NHS sold.

The PM has paid out more to his mates than was ever asked for by nurses.

Many hospital related staff that I know, would ask what planet are those that are blind to what they deal with, are from.

I have been quite ill since last Sunday.
Been hanging on hoping it would go away. , I have lost 11pounds in weight since last Sunday.
My son heard about it and phoned me, and gave me an Out Of Hours phone No.
I called them, A Nurse took the details and said a Doctor would phone back, She did, she asked a few questions and said a Doctor will call to see me within the hour
He arrived and gave me a full examination. Then gave me a weeks supply of Anti biotics
He told me I was very fit for a man of my age.near 86 and that had save me.

After he had gone, I phoned the Number and I told the Nurse that answered I wanted to To Say THANK YOU to all their Staff for the instant and professional Treatment I had received.
She Screamed, We have Never ever had one thank you in all the years I have been here. I am writing it down with all your details and it will be passed around the entire Staff. Thank you so much for this.

That THANK YOU must have caused more excitement than a 5% pay rise,

So you know what to do next time you use the NHS

Every Doctors surgery or Hospital out patients I have visited in the past few years , have big signs up that the staff will not accept any abusive language or behaviour , so where are all the ones saying thank you. ? JS

Many are struggling to pay the annual fee just to be a nurse, without car parking etc.
