Keep the home fires burning
The talk about a Zero emmission free society is all the go just now, Great leading the charge along with Joe and now Boris.
But is Zero by 2050 possible/
Not so easy according to one scientist here in Melbourne, make one wonder who will benefit most by all of this.
Elon Musk of Tesla is one who will benefit the most with his push for electric vehicles, but it may well be short lived as Hydrogen is on the horizen as the fuel of the future.
Since 1880 to now power from fossil fuels has grown from zero to 244 Petawatts per year.
Petta what is one million gigawatts and a gigawatt is one billionwatts of power.
By any standard that is a s*** load of power.
80% of all power is currently produced from coal.
If we are to become fossil fuel free by 2050 then we need to install, test , commission and add to the grid 2.1 giggawatts of renewable energy a day for the next 30 years.
Nuclear would need one new plant every day between now and 2050.
Solar, to meet the 250 petta watts would require 250sq meters of panesl per day to be added to the grid.
Wind power would require3000 turbines added every day until 2050.
This takes into account the replacement of solar panesl and wind turbines as they need to be replaced when no long functioning.
Solar panels have about a 15 year life span.
So keep digging up the coal lads or you may just freeze during the winter.

Even snow in London, not so often that occurrs.
But there is something going on, we are having the coldest summer ever here in Oz.
Normally the Alice will have days, even weeks of continuous over 40 every day.
This year not one.
We need Greta here she would warm it all up>
