Michelle Obama better used to the White House than most, mentions:

Trump as 'the wrong president' and 'in over his head'.

Most should agree, he has had enough time to prove himself and fails constantly,
we all need more from a leader of the free world.

Pelosi is a straight ahead, take no prisoners, highly intelligent WOMEN.

Sadly, to the older generation in America and the rest of the world that only see her for seconds on some "sound bite," shown on tv, usually out of context, to generate controversy, she comes across as pushy or bitchy. Shame really. If the same "sound bite" came from a male, he would be seen as "Macho."

Sad. Thank goodness the younger generation, can accept or dislike powerful, people without gender biase.

Kamila Harris will have the same problem as Pelosi, but like Pelosi, she will get the job done, much better than this "yes man" we have as vice-president to the Idiot-in-Chief.

And put some normalcy back in the White House.

The US, politically is further to the right than the rest of the western world. (including OZ and NZ). The democrat party would be closer to the left wing of the conservative party. Both, I think, favor a national health program for, a higher minimum wage, pension for the elderly and social issues like these.

If you favor these issues and you moved to the states, you would be a democrat.

I was a republican for years, and favored total reliance on myself. As I got older I softened my stance, and the became an independent, and switched back and forth between candidates. Now I have had enough and have become a democrat. I told my friends. "I didn't leave the republican party, the republican party left me."

Rodders, that is interesting as from afar they do not give such an impression.
I, like many, began life as a very strong Labor man and continued as such until about 1977when the Union for brewery workers caused me some problems, would not vote for them now even in a one party state.

I find the Labor party here in Oz is riddled with Union hacks who control it, they are fairly good at socialistic measures such as health and education but not the same for industry.

The claim that the businesses get fat on profits is one of their cries, they forget however that no profits no workers required.
The other point they always go on about is 'what is the gov going to do about creating jobs'?
They forget jobs only exist if there is a demand for the services or products that go with the jobs.
I would assume that in USA there is a similar correlation between demand and jobs created.

If the figures are correct then over the last four years there has been a big increase in employment prior to the Virus.
Some one or some thing must have been going right.

It was in the late 70s that the unions started to slip and over the years the unions power as a political force is non existing in the States. A few fairly large ones exist, like the teamsters (not sure what they are called elsewhere, the are drivers mostly). They lost their power though mainly by independent drivers with their own trucks able to work for non-union companies.

The right for companies to be non union and offer better pay and benefits and not have to keep deadwood employees came into effect. Coal mines are almost a thing of the past. Dockworkers are gone, passenger trains have almost gone, doesn't leave much to unionize does it?

The few that exist would favor the Democrats, but in the past the unions HAVE crossed the line and voted for the Republicans. And a lot of male members, or non-union equivalents voted for Trump and are in fact a part of his base voters.

I can't speak for Oz today as I have been gone a long time, but when I spent my winters there, the Unions were still a force to be reckoned with.

Rodders, some still are mainly the CFMMEU which take sin builders, forestry, mining, maratime and electrical unions.
There are still many smaller ones such as retail, transport and others but the number of strikes now is very few.
To gain the right to one they must first apply to a work commission so not so many.

But the Labor party has lost it's way here, it no longer represents the working man in the way it used to do, there is talk it may well split into two parts, each to represent different parts of society.

As to Trump, putting aside his 'Tweets' and some very odd comments he was in my opinion behind the eight ball from the start.
He was not one of the club, that is not a career politician so did not fit the global mould for a leader.
He sits well wit the likes of Putin and maybe for a while with the Chinese until he began the trade war.

But win, lose or draw I still see China taking over as number one before too long.

Rodders, have just seen much of the speech by Biden on hi acceptance of nomination.

I have concluded that somewhere in the world there is one man who is commissioned by all prospective leaders to write their speech.
Had I put a blind fold on I could swear that apart from the voice it was the leader of any of our political parties here.

Bringing the country together, coming out of the dark, creating jobs and so it goes on.

Maybe I am being cynical but all members of the 'club' do the same thing.
