Went to sea with my Dad's WW1 army issue safety razor - he preferred the terrifying cutthroat stropped on a leather belt. That brass razor took the superb Wilkinson sword-edge, or the 7 O'clock, and lasted twenty years until the screw thread gave out.
Got whiskers now and just need a flick with a rubbish Bic - there's another rhyme!

Dennis, your post brings to mind a holiday to Portugal some years back, was parking the car and asked a policeman in full uniform, if it was ok to park and noticed two pieces of tissue stuck to his face, accented with blood spots....
    regards, stan.

Had an uncle back in the late 40's who claimed he had a way to sharpen razor blades so no need to buy new ones.
Went to get the idea patented but had it bought off him by Gillette.
Paid enough to buy his first house.

Bought a new electric razor which Phillips claim you can use for both wet and dry shaves.
Not my idea to have an electric razor, even battery, used for a wet shave.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Yep, remember Norman very well, he was regular on our TV here in NZ also. Thought he was clever at putting some of the 'up themselves' types in their place!!
