Default Fancy a new t.v., then get yourself to Holland tout suite

Around 200 containers lost overboard in the North sea are washing up on Dutch beaches, they contain large flat screen TVs, light bulbs among other items.

Officials said three containers carried toxic substances, be careful.

    Hi John.
If it is anything like the one that lost her containers here, it was covered by security beaches closed until they cleaned up.
    Cheers Des

#2... slightly off thread, vic, you being a lecky maybe able to throw a little light on subject. I believe the uk runs on the 60 cycle system , forget the correct terminology , whereas here in Oz is on the 50 or maybe the other way round. When we came out here we threw everything in a container washing machine Hoover’s the lot. They worked out here but only lasted about a year or so before having to be replaced. Would their shortage of life be due to the difference in the 10 cycles difference. I also believe there is a difference between the UK and the continent. Cheers JS...

John you are correct about that, different cycles here in Oz.
    But it is getting worse.
My brother is a sparky and he was telling me that the increase in solar and wind power is causing problems for the grid.
More is going in at times than is coming out, as a result whilst most equipment is designed to operate on about 230 volts the system is often pushing it out at about 250 volts.
This will indeed shorten the life of any electrical equipment, particularly with some of the inferior quality coming in from overseas.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

John, UK is 240v, 50 cycles, continent is 60cycles or Hertz if you ever. Shortage in life could and probably is due to the increase in frequency.

We saw here on Tv in Oz the people grabbing what they could from the container ship that floundered.
All good stuff there but one problem of course.
    No warranty available with them.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
