Thanks Robert, and I'm certainly not apologising for me and Mona for being big Greenies-no,not the ocean rollers or nasal secretions !.
I wasn't a greenie back then ,although I did have a leftish tendency towards the Liberals, until the Thorp affair with it's attendant ramifications turned me off, especially as my Mona was a budding greenie as it were, and my first child Jennifer was on the way.
With regards to buses, here in west London there's a big red one in both directions every five minutes or less,so I'm certainly in support of eco-friendly fuels for public transport, but at what financial cost?.Mind you here in west London we're also on the Heathrow flight path and at peak aviation transport times there are arrivals which seem more frequent than any London bus schedule. I certainly said No to the third runway.Grrr.
We used to have green buses here in the capital(I mean the external paint job not their environmental credentials), those being Green Line Coaches for the longer distance routes ,and London Country buses ,painted green of course, for areas just outside the London sprawls of Middlesex and Surrey.
My Dad remembered post war and early 50's that in the Lake District the incumbent bus operator of red buses, maybe Ribble? at one time were told they should paint their buses green to fit in with the environment. I can't help thinking that the bus management told the authority to Frack Off ( sorry an attempt for me at a humorous analogy of we greenie anti frackers of today or should that be anti fracketeers.Mind you Mum and Dad had a caravan on Anglesey and your caravan,(and site owners had to enforce it,especially if it was above an arbitrary skyline dictated by the county council, had to be of a 'neutral' colour ,preferably of a green or beige shade).During the sixties and seventies that was not popular with any budding psychedelic shack or flower-power people or hippies, who were anything but sombre green or beige types.

make you welcome, seems after a couple of weeks you report from your friend here, that this site is somewhat poorer from the lack of such posters that you have mentioned.
I do hope that if you stay that you may decide for yourself, possibly the moderating team can assist you with your discharge book number and more.
Regards,
Keith.
Hello there Keith .Thanks for your welcome and excuse me if I missed a reply of welcome earlier. What is Tregenna ?,it sounds vaguely like one of my old company's cargo ships, the company was Hain-Nourse which my company ,P and O took over in the sixties, and I recall they were really crappy old timers.I wanted to try one for the experience bizarrely, but by that time I had been earmarked as a bulkerman,so it was not to be.I suppose they ended up doing another 20 odd years in Greek fleets (LOL)
Not sure what you mean about my discharge number as I'm certain it's in my profile, which it is,or was, because I've checked. A real seaman never forgets his Discharge number as we say. Finding your way round these sort of sites can be a bit like crossing the shipping lanes between Dover and Calais in a coracle. Very interesting though and I think I'm getting better at it all .
What about you. Were you MN,and what kind of seagoing experience,if any do you have. You seem to be a prolific poster on many things and always seem to reply to every thread. Are you a moderator?
Anyway, thanks again for your welcome.I'm really glad I joined.
All the Best
Graham

Re: Trumps visit.
Now Graham why is I and others suspect you are close friend of Guilliver, certainly not the wise man from the North East as you can actually string a sentence together. I will openly admit that my own grammar and spelling does leave a lot to be desired.
Concerning my political leanings I can openly state I am not Corbynite or the current crop of looney lefties that have infiltrated the Labour party. But with the current crap of May & Co I can certainly understand the rise of the left in the labour party. Oh and it is not all about the less fortunate in British society wanting a free ride , more todo with a level playing field.

This Nation has gone down to the level of a sewer.
I have never seen such a whinging whining nation as we have today.
The millions of men and women who died to give us freedoms in the past Wars must be squirming in their graves,
I despair for this once great nation.
Captain there was a march in London yesterday ,I watched it on live stream as it had a blanket coverage on it , there were thousands of people there, nearly as many as Mondays march ,and in the speeches in Whitehall Donald trump was cheered and clapped, and all our men and woman from past wars were ,remembered and cheered to .the Police were very heavy handed and started trouble for hardly any reason ,Horses and dogs were used even though there wasn't any sort of difference from the Friday march , speeches were said and as far as I know it all ended peacefully ,if you go to face book and put in Free Tommy Robison march you can see for yourself how big it was , it might give you a bit of hope captain as there is movement out there now that the luvvies are scared of and are not wanting you to see , hence no news coverage .

Well Lewis,I am a bit flattered to think you had compared me to a Gulliver, for by all accounts I have it on good authority that he was a good writing person, and seeing as I've always been a bit sloppy in my writing ability then I am amazed. But then like many of a certain age I reckon we had a good education.
Now,I was also informed by my friend that some are rather argumentative sorts and might have the unhappy knack of phrasing a sentence in such a way that others might respond with off the cuff replies to certain comments, and then get themselves into trouble. Is that right
Well.I don't really wish to know .Individual persons opinions I will certainly listen to and respond to in a thread or forum, but not personal ones,as Facebook members have found out recently to their cost.
My response was not directed at the policies of any particular political party but at the 'biasedness ' ,or not at the BBC ,if you refer back.
I certainly agree with your level playing field policy.
What is the man of the north east meaning,or are you involved somehow in a personal slanging match with someone.I have been reading back through some posts and see that a lot has been deleted on all sides so its hard to see the full story. Not that its important.
If so then I don't really want to know or get involved. We are mature adults, all of an ex seafaring community I hope and we should enjoy the site sensibly.
Best Regards
Graham
