Nice work - if you can get it.
Alison Saunders head of the CPS for the past five years is standing down. Some say she was pushed, she says she left of her own accord.
Her salary was £250,000 per year and she has amassed a pension pot of £1.8m not a bad rewardfor incompetence.
Vic
Ps some say CPS stands for Criminal Protection Society.

she will have finished her full term on contract , it is a shame she didn't cull the incompetents in those five years

Re: Nice work - if you can get it.
My understanding of having an independent Crown Prosecution Service was too r take the choices away from the police and waste less time in court I like the thought of the Prosecution Service being separate from the police but if you did away with it what would you replace it with I think that's the problem that I see is that it ain't good but the alternatives don't bear thinking about . I would rather see all these appointments but things like the Crown Prosecution Service etc taken away totally from any political decision possibilities and have them as a truly independent service

Re: Nice work - if you can get it.
Rob, any form of prosecution service should be well away from the police.
Deciding who to prosecute should be an impartial decision.
But we have similar problems here in Oz.
Police put together a charge and the public prosecutor will not go with it.
Has reached a point where some police do not follow through with charges as they think it will be a waste of time.

The problem is John, The police are in many cases 100% that they have the guilty person, But until the CPS Decides for or against prosecution, The police have one hand tied behind there back. To many wrongful guilty verdicts in the past unfortunately, But i know for certain the police are very frustrated with the CPS At times. { NO COMMENT }

Know what you mean Terry.
We have a case here where the police suspect the husband killed her and buried the body in a shallow grave.
There are witnesses who say they saw a car in which the police think she was carried as a corpse.
He has been interviewed a dozen times but so far no charges. The police need just one more small bit to convict, but until they find that will not move on him.
Have you ever wondered why victims of crime are always found in a shallow grave.
If a standard one is six feet deep, how deep is a shallow one?
