    Default Monties

Those of us who have been to Sydney know well the pubs and bars that were there in our days at sea.

One of the most well known and famous was of course 'Monties'.

On my last cruise I met with a good friend of mine from Melbourne, he is the source of the photos I regularly post, who stayed over night in Sydney prior to sailing.
He went for a nostalgic look around and of course ended up in 'Monties'.

What he told me will frighten the heck out of any one who ever visited the place.

    It has gone 'up market'.

Gone the tiles on the walls and floor, gone the vynill flooring to be replaced with some carpet and wooden flooring.
For a moment he said he though he was in the wrong place.

No doubt the ladies have also moved on and sleeping quarters, the loo, is now off limits.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

Last time I went to Monties when Capt Kong,Roger ,Beth and another it was still good there, not I presume quite like the very old ,Monties but still a good old Pub!
Had a fab day with all there
All this up market stuff they do with good old places is not really nice,as it seems to take the character out of places!
Thank goodness that the old Juniper Berry in Southampton is still almost the same, also changed though!
    Cheers
