BC fire update
Wild fires still raging.14,000 people have been evacuated.
People from Fort MacMurray have traveled through the night with supplies.
Winds now from the west, so fires moving into Alberta and Manitoba. Also in danger of crossing into the US.
Although most likely Trump will stop it at the boarder crossing. lol.

Haven't heard anything about it yet John.
Believe they did some time ago.
Today centers have been set up to train volunteers to assist firefighters.

Re: BC fire update
Firefighters coming in from other Provinces.
Wonder why they don't bring in the army.
Thousands sitting in barracks all across Canada.
And getting paid for it.

To control such fires you do need professional people who know how to handle the fires. With all due respect I doubt any in the forces would know how.

No doubt they would have professional firefighters in charge of the various platoons, I should imagine that most of the forces would be taught basic fire fighting rules as are Merchant navy officers and others

Re: BC fire update
In WA if you have land with bush on you have to by the states law have fire breaks cut at various times, suppose other states are the same. Bush fires seem to have little problem jumping these. Also have periodic burn offs to cut down on the fuel for such fires. In the finish though it nearly always turns out the bush fire brigades are left holding the baby, these are unpaid volunteers and do an excellent job. JWS

Re: BC fire update
Would assume also the armed forces have their own fire fighting specialists. The USA base spent nearly a week on in Norfolk visiting friends in the US Air Force, they had their own sheriffs department as well as their own fire service, I assumed they were forces personel, maybe not, and maybe assumed wrong and they were civilians shipped in from the states. The same as the RAF have their own RAF regiment who are literally soldiers dressed in RAF uniform, used to guard the air bases. I say Norfolk may have been Suffolk. Was the base that Gaddafi received his manna from heaven from. Cheers JWS
