I have always believed that 95% of all problems and disputes in our country are they direct fault of government Tory and Labour.
The prison officers have warned for years that because of forced manpower cuts imposed on them they cannot to the job expected of them. Prisons are now awash with drugs , weapons and mobile phones. The rate of suicide and violent attacks increasing daily , prisoners locked in cells 23 hours a day building resentment because there are not the number of staff to supervise them if let out. Now that the situation has gone well past crisis point a government minister has said she will recruit more officers , far too late as it takes time for them to train and be in position , meanwhile the crisis will continue.

The NHS and social care also in crisis , lack of finding , bad management and cuts to social care resulting in the elderly deprived of dignity in their final days. Once again the government were warned over and over by doctors and nurses in the front line , health ministers denying the problems existed.

Politicians taking us into disastrous wars in Afghanistan , Iraq and Libya. Billions of pounds wasted lives lost and ruined.

Inequality levels rising, the fat cats getting fatter. Companies such JD Sports , Sports Direct , Amazon , Uber etc. exploiting workers with third world conditions.

While ex workers here on site place all the blame on todays workers the government can escape any responsibility .

No one forces these people to work for Sports and JB ETC.
if no one worked for them they would have to review their work practices. no money coming and no profits, then out of business,
Just stop working for those kind of employers and get the nation to stop buying their products. Better than moaning and doing nothing.
I have never ever bought any item from those employers mentioned , so if I can manage with out so can the nation. Simple.
There is a whole Generation of kids in school today,
All parents should instil into each child, they have to have a good education to get a good job in life, Without it they are consigned to be in and out of Bum jobs for life.
I never got an education in WW2 as schools were closed or bomb damaged etc, so did nothing and couldn't read or write when I was eleven, I had to educate myself later because I knew I had no chance in life without education.
Corbyn Does Not want any kid to go to Grammar school, He went to Grammar School. WHY???
because he wants a load of uneducated kids in poor employment or unemployment to keep him and his cohorts in Office. Think about it!
I stopped drinking and smoking and used that money to pay a School Headmaster to give my sons extra lessons in the evening three times a week. They both passed to go to Grammar School, then to University, their mates didn't, they played around, Now my two are laughing in Very Top Jobs.
I told them, Don't end up as a Bum, the world does not need any more Bums it is full of them,
So if people end up like that they should stop whining and do something for them selves instead of listening to Multi millionaire left wing propagandists for their own political ends. Get Wise. Even Corbyn was a Toff, he was born into a Seven bedroom Mansion to wealthy parents.
    Brian.

Brian this is the real world.A person is told by the Job Centre to go to one of these places to work,no I am not going to work in a place like that.!!!which you say they should do, Fine says the Job Centre you are sanctioned for three months,no benefits of any kind for three months so it's the Food Bank for you.

Ted, yes they all guard as you point out, but they also do other things apart from guard.
Crossing Guards (assume your talking about Railways) disappearing, replaced by automation.
Train Guard, doesn't guard in the strictest sense, collects fares (gets a percentage of the takings), checks tickets. Shuts doors.
Over 30 per cent of the rail network has driver only trains.
    regards
    Vic

#93, I can sympathise to an extent Louis with the youngsters [the adults should know better] that you mention who work for these companies but I'm afraid it all boils down to how savvy you are. If their parents don't teach them or they grow up thinking the government owes them a living then they are on a hide to nothing.

I have sixty odd cousins there's only one that I know of who chooses to live on whatever he can scrounge from the government. He asked me for a job once, I bent hubby's ear and he said start as a night watchman on an empty site, all he had to do was watch the gates as before the fence went up some smart alex was dumping tyres on a regular basis. It was a weeks trial..He only managed five nights and was late on his first!

My son who is self employed [dry stone waller] had to step in at short notice because this twerp didn't show. So after my son's twelve hour day he then covered the night duty.

In his own company he has given up on trainee's they barely last six months too much hard work for them!

My youngest daughter 32, has had 31 jobs, outwith her two year college course and three year university degree. No gap year for any of mine. She works in retail. She was offered a store in London to run as she had trebled their intake, but wanted the promotion in her Edinburgh shop instead. It didn't arise so around six months ago she started with a new company as asst manager, [more money] She had applied for manager but didn't get it. For the first two weeks she worked a fourteen hour day. Within a month the manager was sacked and she took over after ensuring an extra 5k on her salary. On a couple of occasions she has been so tired she has slept overnight in her car [private estate] rather than risk the fifty minute drive home. She is good with all her staff and arranges cinema/supper nights for whoever wants to go when time allows. Every night she is on her laptop working out rota's, figures, stock etc. Every job has been a stepping stone to her own business eventually.

We are very proud of the three of them, workers to the bone, just wish others had the same attitude.
