Black Friday
We keep on seeing all these adverts on telly and in the papers about Black Friday,
I've just had a chat with Robinson Crusoe and he is quite upset that he hasn't had even a mention...

Re: Black Friday
I am amazed that it has not been called Racist to have a Black Friday. They should have called it Dark Friday or something else.

Re: Black Friday
In business, the verbal comment "being in the red," signifies loosing money, "being in the black' means profitability. Red ink was used to visually identify loosing money. Black ink signified profitability. Black Friday and a significant amount of customers buying other products besides the discounted leader items could push the companies into the black and profitability. Thus black Friday became known as the first day of profitability. Today in journals of accounting parenthesis are used to set of losses.

Used my B.A. AMEX Card and got Air Miles on it plus Nectar Points.

Re: Black Friday
Hi shipmates, I took a trip into town today on black friday, to see what was happening? All the shops were busy with customers' and town was busy? people walking everywhere , every few yards they was a big issue salesperson, and someone asking for spare change sitting on the pavement, many people with charity tins , and young people asking you to sign up to help charity. Africans/ eastern europeans selling cheap chinese toys on store metal trolleys, there were many signs on the shop windows. Quote BLACK FRIDAY is on for 6 days? Remind me am I missing something? is black friday one day or six? NEXT time I will stay at home. BAH humbug.

Re: Black Friday
In my opinion Black Friday is a big con. There are some bargains to be had, not many. Wife bought a Kenwood Chef earlier in the year, £325 advertised on TV at £500 Black Friday price £299.
A women on local TV claimed that items were on sale cheaper last week.
Regards
Vic

Re: Black Friday
Hi Rod.
Thanks for that post, I have often wondered, as my wallet is black and I have been in the Red all my life, I might try and change the colour of it.
Cheers Des
