Chris do you think maybe you should open a separate thread for the petition with that in it's title.You would normally get more signatures than this,I think most members would only be to happy to sign it but maybe haven't bothered to look in on this thread.Just a suggestion.

Thanks Doc, Jim, I will leave making a new thread for the moment as Doc has kindly put it on a Sticky, thanks for the support from both of you and all those that have signed. I and many others have now lost total faith in the way the RNLI is managed and run, their recent actions against their volunteers at other stations as well as New Brighton, seem to be those of a corporate body rather than that of an institution dedicated to saving lives. It would appear that loyalty, dedication and honesty has no importance to them anymore, nor has the history of loyalty and bravery synonymous with lifeboat men and women. So very disappointing and so very sad. Needless to say that my 20 years of service to the RNLI leaves a very bad feeling in me and unless things change, I will no longer donate nor support them in any way whatsoever. My feelings appear to be mirrored in many many people here on Merseyside and I am now finding out, around the UK too. Sad times, very sad times.

#9, Hi Chris, I have a book "Heroes of the Goodwin Sands" written by the Rev Thomas S Treanor 1904, he was the
chaplain to the Missions to Seamen for 26 years and Honorary Secretary to the RNLI, he actually went out on the boat
with them at times. I was interested in the Sands as my grt grt granddad died there when his ship went down in 1868,
it is a very interesting book and a good read. cheers JC

I supported the RNLI for many years.

Then I worked for them... the volunteers are continually crapped on by the managers/station managers/LOM.

The £££££££££££ wasted is unbelievable yet they want 'staff' to buy things like paint brushes out of their own pocket.

The 'hazing', the 'inbreeding', the elitism, the bullying of individuals on stations is unbelievable.

Many long term and respected crew disagreed with the move into the lifesaving role. It is simply an income source and PR exercise. Boat crews would never get away with behaving like these Baywatch wannabes do.

Whilst grateful for the service they provide I will never give another penny to this corrupt outfit.

I lost faith many years ago in RNLI Management when I lived in Poole where their Corporate HQ are situated and they built an office that make Bank Buildings look miniscule, a car park filled with top of the range cars and reserved car parking spaces for management etc etc Adverts in local and National Press for management with salaries well above average and perks packages. However I still give to 'Lifeboats' because I hope that at least some of the money will actually go into saving the life of my fellow seafarers in one way or another

Yep, definitely but they claim that they have to be competitive to attract the right sort of managers... yet it's possible to get the important people - the front line crews as volunteers!

If recall correctly they had to break it down into departments - training, mechanical, stores, fuel, etc. as they had too much money as a whole organization to be consider a charity any longer.

Jim, another RNLI lie, nobody is targeting the new crew - BUT - we are targeting the management as to the way they have caused the situation and handled it, so they have turned it into the new crew being targeted to try and make us look bad. WE have no argument with the new crew, to be honest we dont know them, all we do know is that some of them or at least one of them, have badly damaged the launching tractor, the launching cradle and the Lifeboat - says it all really. The fight goes on Jim, for justice for the old crew but the fight is not with the new crew but with the Local management, Divisional Management and Poole. You cannot treat loyal, committed and brave volunteers the way the RNLI have and not expect them not to react, not just here at New Brighton but at other stations in the country who have experienced the same bad management.
