Re: Bliars millions
Would like to have been an ear at the door of the tent on his last discussion with Gaddafi. To think that this man has been vouchsafed as an expert on Middle eastern Affairs and probably been also paid by the taxpayer for his inglorious title. Certainly beats me. Skulduggery and not buggery being the word I believe. JWS

Re: Bliars millions
The saddest part of this, under current international laws he cannot be charged with any crimes.
When you consider some of the persons tried after WW2 and dispatched it makes me wonder why not him?
What he did was no different in many ways to the events of WW, the only difference, if any, is this occurred in what we loving call 'peace time'.

#12.. The one who springs to mind John is William Joyce. He never dirtied his hands in the killing, was a supposedly Irish citizen, gave up his British Citizenship for German, which was denied by the relevant authorities. Was employed by the German Ministry of Propoganda, and was executed as a traitor after the war. Today he would have got a 6 months suspended sentence. JWS

Re: Bliars millions
I heard somewhere that in the report sometime ago that there was mention that before the yanks bombed him from a base in the UK, that he communicated to Gaddiffi to keep his head down. Hence the target was missed and some of his family died instead. Believe this is also in the thousands of pages report. JWS

Re: Bliars millions
#13, John, William Brooke Joyce was an American-born Irish-British Fascist politician and as you know a Nazi propaganda broadcaster. He was hanged at Wandsworth Prison by Albert Pierrepoint....Good enough for him...... As for T Blair get him where it really hurts, strip him of assets earned during and after his time in office.. Blood money, Middle East peace envoy
His charity accounts should be re-scrutinized. You can then guarantee any future budding PM will not be complacent and will be held to account for his actions during office..... Leave him enough cash for a roll of duck tape to cover the mouth of his free loading wife.

Re: Bliars millions
The American Air Base was in Suffolk where the bombers took off from to bomb Libya. Wife and self spent a long weekend at base as she knew an American family. It was noticeable to me that most of the men on this base were not the youngsters one expects to see on British forces bases. The bloke we knew was about 38 at the time and had joined the air force only a couple of years previously and was an ex Bank Clerk. Nice bloke and family. He was on the flight crew of one of the massive transport planes as a navigator and was continuously ferrying in stores for the base from the US, the base was self contained and very few familys ever left its perimeter. Had a great time however. Still keep in contact with same. Cheers JWS

Re: Bliars millions
Joyce was also known as Lord Haw Haw . I remember listening to him on the radio. He always started by saying "Germany Calling".

Re: Bliars millions
Marian #15, I agree he shouls be striped but who will do it? No politician for fear that thye may go the same way and who would be willing to prove how he fiddled his way to the millions?
Politicians such as Blood money Blair give the public good reason to hate and distrust all politicians. There have been some who did good, the one who brought in the NHS springs to mind.
But they are mostly there for them, not us.
here in Oz we now have 6 ex Prime ministers all getting a bucket load of perks. Costing the nation billions that e can ill afford. No normal worker gets treated in this manner so why should they be any different, they are after all employed by us the people!

Re: Bliars millions
Hi John
What puzzles me is why they can't try Blair, Bush and Howard for war crimes, they did just that to the leaders of the Bosnian Serbs and they were defending their country from being errun by the same mossies. From what I could see Saddam was no threat to the British, other than maybe taking control of the oil reserves, The good old USofA of course wanted to hide the fact that they supplied the gas that Saddam used on the Kurd's, and Gadaffi was of course using his oil money to get his people into the modern age through a huge fresh water pipeline under the desert; when he should have been selling it cheap to Bush's mates.
Cheers Des

Re: Bliars millions
Question Time last night and again politicians on the panel showed their total ignorance.
Discussing Blair and Chilcot and the aftermath of the Iraq war , a number of the politicians answered in the affirmative to the question "is the world a safer place after the demise of Saddam Husain"
What b.s.
When he was in power in Iraq (and Gadaffi in Libya) I cannot recall any terrorist attacks by mlim extremists in London, Paris, Brussels,Madrid, Boston, Los Angeles, Medina, Bagdad, etc. nor millions of refugees streaming through Turkey or crossing the Medi. in attempting to reach Europe.
O.K. so he was a nasty dictator who slaughtered thousands of his own people but remember the violence was contained within the shores of his country and not spread throughout the middle east and beyond. By the very nature of the population of those countries along with their religious views, they can only be controlled by strong dictators, whether the rest of the world agrees with them or not and never forget that eventually, as history has proven over the centuries, dictatorships eventually die out naturally.
