Default Something for the weekend Sir?

Yesterday I visited my local barbers for a short back and sides. It's usually quiet on a Sunday but there were several lads ahead of me so I settled down to await my shout. Listening to the chatter, I am always amazed how some people treat the barbers chair as a confessional. Personal details of finance, health, marital infidelities- seeking advice on all manner of problems. All this is accompanied by various mobile ringtones and people talking into their hands. The barber is female, about mid 40's and hails from Trinidad and fairly attractive. When I'm in her chair I try to keep shtum or at best, non committal. I once mentioned Loading the black stuff at Trinidad Lake, but she seemed unaware of the islands main export. Compare all of the above to another age when barbers' resembled cathedrals, all male staffed, polished marble, gleaming porcelain. The only sound was the occasional rustle of a newspaper or a murmur of voices enquiring 'will there be anything else Sir'?
Returning from a long voyage I used to enjoy the luxury of a haircut and wet shave with hot towels and a shave that close, with an open razor, that it seemed weeks before I needed to shave. It would be interesting to know if any members can still avail themselves of the old fashioned emporiums of tonsorial excellence.

Not sure whether I"ve had my tonsils out or not Gilly. Know Trinidad pretty well though. Don't know if same in UK now but out here is all done on numbers, no short backsides, 1234, was told nearest thing to was a number 3, always scared to ask for a number 4, in case come out with a shaved head. Maybe a number 2 may come out with a turd on head. Always new experiences these days and hard to keep up with. Still cant get my ipad on line so am going to ask the next 6 year old kid I meet. Cheers JS

Then of course the day comes when you can cut your own hair, what is left of it that is. Got one of those do it yourself jobs and it is great. Quick whiz around once a week and there we are looking like a new born, no bloody hair.
